What Surprised The Dalai Lama?

  • 4

What surprised you about humanity the most?
When the Dalai Lama was asked, he replied:

“Man. Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.”

His Holiness hit the nail in the head.

When you rush you miss the things that really matter. When sleep feels like a waste of time. When people feel like a waste of time.
It's an alarm! make some introspection

I'm not against action or hustle. I'm all about action!

But when actions come from the wrong place; When we feel we "need to"...We feel that we need to go faster and faster and faster.

And at this speed, we miss what's really important. We sacrifice our health, love and happiness or simply race in the wrong direction. Similar as speeding a street on a motorbike. You miss the real beauty of the flowers and bees flying from one to another.

A kenso/satori moment...
read about kenso and satori moment HERE

I was living like that a few years ago. I was depressed, overworked, and almost divorced with my wife. I wanted to quit life. I guess it was the lowest point in my life.

At this point. At the edge of hope, I saw an insight. One, which became a significant turning point in my life and inspired the Innately Whole movement. Words can't describe something such experiential. But here it goes:

After that painful moment I realized that; Every concept, name, and judgment; Just made up! In the rawest level of reality, things are empty of names, concepts, and judgments. They are just what they are. A dance of Colours, shapes, forms, smells, sensations appearing in consciousness. Only we put labels on reality.

In my case; "He's a jerk", "I'm a failure", "She is lazy", "Life sucks", "I'm never gonna make it"

And at this point. By the grace of this understanding, all my suffering melted away. I was Neo waking up from the matrix. I saw that I was trying to do is to fill a hole inside.

And that the biggest lie of humanity is that; "I'm not good enough"

(First of all, I want to say, while this realization opened the didn't last. It was a powerful insight but I'm not some guru on a misty mountain.

I mostly sit in front of my computer stealing my wife's tattoo chair. I make mistakes all the time, receive coaching and go through periods of ups and downs as everyone else.)

Imagine how the world would look like without that lie.

When people wouldn't need substances or success to fill that inner void? When people would source their happiness from inside? When they wouldn't be affraid of going for what they want...or making mistakes?

My friend shared something:
You know Viktor, I put Self-love as a priority over achievements.

Boom! That really touched something in me.
Isn't that the whole point? Isn't that why we hustle in the first place?

The irony is that it's very hard to be productive when there is a constant void inside. That's when you procrastinate or anxiously jump around. Success doesn't have to cost your health, love and happiness.

Happiness is not created by success. Success is created by happiness.

By growing up as an artist, getting into shape in 6 months, and building a heart centred business I learned this:

Success is created slower than most people imagine. Overnight success is often created in 10-20-40 years. Slow down, find what really matters in life. Something that you will do even if it takes you 10-20-40 years. And do it consistently. One step every day. The 40 years will come anyway.

with love,
Viktor Saghy
